Most of my readers are probably aware by now that Amazon.com has been removing erotica titles from its catalog in response to a “media outcry” about explicit material.

(If you’re not familiar with the story yet, Selena Kitt has an excellent summary on One Handed Writers, and Misanthropology101 has been doing a great job tracking the manipulative creeps ginning up the outrage in a series of posts.)

So with that said, it should come as no surprise to anyone that Amazon has removed some of my titles, just as they’ve done to pretty much every other indie erotica author out there.

What is surprising is what they’ve taken down, and what they haven’t. Here’s a book they removed because of an offensive “Cover/Title”:

And here’s one they’ve left up:

One of these things is…pretty much exactly like the other, actually. So unless there’s something uniquely offensive about the phrase “Game Day” that I wasn’t aware of (or maybe the color orange?), it’s safe to say that Amazon doesn’t have a fucking clue what they’re doing here.

For more details on the porn takedowns and what you can do about them, I’ll refer you again to Selena’s masterful summary. This is just my grumpy little corner of “WTF” today.

Because seriously, now. WTF?
